On 23 and 24 March I posted a series of pictures taken
at Ferney Grove to TramsDownUnder. These were taken 4
November 2001 when the museum was open.
You should be able to find them on the Yahoo TDU site.

Is there anyone on this list from Brisbane (not
Adelaide!) who can give us
an update about Ferney Grove? I visited the site in
early 2000 and peered
through the fence, but it was all shut up and didn't
look much advanced from
e situation reported in old "Electric
Traction" mags from the early 70s.
Is that unfair? Do they operate regularly? Have the
plans for a decent
length of running track been abandoned?
I would strongly urge that any tram museum be
reachable by public transportation. It also
should
have at least one mile of track for operation.
A
static display does not give the same experience
as
being on an operating tram. During my visit
to
Australia Loftus (Sydney), St Kilda (Adelaide) and
Bendigo satisfied those conditions and were great
experiences. Ferney Grove (Adelaide), with only
a few
hundred feet of track, left me with a desire for
more.
This does not mean that I did not enjoy what they
had.
