Re: Toolern Vale trams: a "hairy" last day!

The last day of operation at Toolern Vale was incredible! It was a
wild and windy day with lots of "guests" present.
The owner of the property, Jim Baines, (aka "Dirty Man"), took a low
profile on the day. I remember Richard Youl and several others being
in charge of the operation.
Towards the end of the day Richard opened up the Birney on a downhill
section of the return journey and the car gained speed. It was
getting a little bit of a worry when he screamed out "we're out of
control"! The Birney was full of passengers including my son and I.
Fortunately the car made it to the bottom of the hill and slowed down
on the rising grade. Richard was able to regain control.
I'm sure I had the video going at the start of the trip but turned it
off when things became a bit "hairy".
A very interesting day...

Barry Neilson's "Toastrack" which previously ran at Toolern Vale is
reported to be there already.
The "Birney" of Richard Youle, I believe to be in Queensland with
man himself.
I have not gone any further with my plan due to some administration
problems.
The incomplete X1 is in store at Laverton in the meantime.

So where are they now?
