Tramway overhead - Gisborne Street and Victoria Parade

As previously noted, trolley pole operation is now only possible
through the new layout to/from Gisborne Street to the Route 12 siding
in Victoria Parade. Movements of trolleypole cars into Brunswick
Street and to/from LaTrobe Street are now longer possible. Trolley
pole operation beyond the Route 12 siding is also not now possible as
the next crossover in Victoria Parade just before Hoddle Street has
had its trolley pole fittings removed.

An interesting feature of the new overhead is that the aforementioned
Gisborne Street to Victoria Parade overhead features trolleybus style
sweeps. This is presumably due to the reduced number of span wires
on the curves, and the sharper curvature of the overhead at each of
the span wires that would otherwise occur. In contrast, the overhead
between Brunswick Street and Victoria Parade doesn't have sweeps, and
looks very European in appearance.
