Wonderful evening tonight for the 150 or so people who attended the
second annual Sir Robert Risson memorial lecture at the RMIT.
Guest speaker was Keith Kings whose address was titled "Privatisation
of Melbourne's Public Transport-Has the Wheel Turned Full Circle".
Keith explored the similarities, and differences, to the recent
experiences of total private operation of public transport in
Melbourne and the early days last century when everything was in
private hands.
Other speakers were Bernie Carolan, Commercial Director of National
Express, Associate Professor Jenny Morris from the RMIT and Dr
Michael Kennedy from Mornington Peninsula Shire.
Congratulations to Graeme Turnbull for organising the event. Next
year's lecture will be on 29 April 2003.
