I hereby nominate the following WA tram as one for the 'only a mother could love' category of the Trams Awards 2001.

The photo is a scan of the back cover of the PETS publication 'Getting There', with the original photo either taken by Arthur Perry or Hugh Ballment, as all the colour photos in the book are from these two gents' collections.

The tram is unique, but not all that pretty...

Built in 1913, retired in c.1952 it lasted some 20 years longer than most of its companion stepless cars. The view portrayed was in the car sidings beside the WACA ground in East Perth in 1952. The tram had been modified in the late 1940's, including the fitting of the centrally-mounted destination box, removal of the external motorman's door and replacement with an internal door cut into the bulkhead (forcing the motorman to climb over an adjoining passenger seat!)

Yep. Sometimes the French quest for style
really crashes. Ya gotta love 'em for trying, but...

Hi All!
I nominate either the Strasbourg abominations, or
the horrors at Lyons as the ugliest cars ever made.
Talk about mobile goldfish bowls............!!!

Melbourne has just bought!
