They were nice cars when the controller was working
properly but they turned into slow pokes like the rest when they got their
sliding doors.
A Clyde without doors was a joy to
drive.
I think your notion that Clydes alone were big cars
might have been a Brunswick thang since those cars were the same size as all the
other "big" cars. We were more indiscriminate in our use of the term at Essendon
Depot.

"Real" big cars were W5s with EE Clyde controllers attached to
Brunswick Depot for work on Sydney Road (Route 19/20).
Loved by Brunswick crews, respected by South Melbourne crews and
feared by the rest!!!!
