Almost right Bob,
The very last of the original W5 series (840 to 849)
were built with sliding doors.  The pic of 842 is one
of that series.  Clue is that the passenger windows in
the end sections have two panes (one large, one small
on top)  Later SW5s were all converted from W5 with
several variations in design over the years.

The SW6's, W6's and W7's all had three section windows
in the end passenger cabins. So did some of the W5
conversions.  728 (ex W5 and also snapped by Herman)
is an example of a late W5 conversion - the end
passenger cabin windows are one section - unaltered
from the original)

To add even more to the confusion there were some W5s
that started as "CW5's" - built on old maximum
traction trucks to save money during the 30's  Not
surprisingly they were a resounding failure and
converted to W5 fairly quickly - they carried numbers
681 to 685.  The numbers 686 to 719 were not used ...
which is why 700 was conveniently available for the ex
VR car when the Z's rolled in....
