30 years ago the last car ran
into the Depot signalling the end of SEC operated services in Bendigo.
To mark this occasion car 26, and car 5 were run
out to a commemeration ceremony at Charing Cross this morning, car 26 was
the last car to run in on the SEC services and car 5 ran the last Quarry
Hill service.
Unfortunately
the power failed at around 11:15 and was restored at around 12 :45, stranding
no's 26, and 5 at Charing Cross, no 25 at the mine, 275 ??? and 808 in McRae
st out side the school of Mines. No 5 apparently see's little use
these day and was formerly a Geelong car, the power fault was on the supply side
of the trusts substation. Preliminary road works are to commence in tramway ave
for re-sealing work and the opportunity is being taken do to track work on this
section prior to this work.
