At the end of February staff were advised that:
- Key management personnel were moving to Connex Head Office in Sussex Street on 9/10 March. They did, only the Assistant Operations Manager remains at 190.
- The CEO of Metro Transport Services (MTS own the assets) would be moving into the vacated office space in April.
3. MTS plan to renovate
the building at 190, work to commence on 19 March for 8/12
weeks. A new meal room, the WC
facilities to be extended, in particular the
womens who only have one toilet, additional lockers.
At the end of March staff were further advised that the MTS
Board of Directors had rejected the proposal to renovate the 190
premises.
During March it was announced that the MLR system is to be
extended to Norton Street Leichhardt. Some months back it was rumoured
that land had been obtained at Lilyfield for a new depot. The present
depot just holds the present fleet of seven trams, maintenance could be retained
at 190 with trams depoted at Lilyfield.
Now reading between the lines. More trams will be
needed for an extended system. Therefore a new depot to house
the new trams. Therefore why spend money on the present
depot?
Cheers
Ted
