According to information I got recently, the E cars were bid by Brill, but
then built by Pengelley using Brill parts.

The next tram to be restored will be E 118, which will be
restored to near

E1's, as
E1 111 exemplifies. The quality of the restoration is to be seen
to believe.
These guys really know their stuff. As with the restoration of
B42 some
years back (from californian combo A2 42), much of the open
section has to
be built from stratch, such as the crossbench seats and seat
ends.

The open end looks like classic Brill!
