They are planning to connect the new shed to the system around mid-year.

Re:381 equipment, it uses very similar electrical and mechanical equipment to the H cars - PC5 controllers, same trucks, etc. Hence why it was an H1 and not an I class...

The roof line on this car looks decidedly odd to me. I almost suspect is flat corrugated iron.

So they make the roof almost flat and that make up for the lack of height with little towers for the pole bases.

Those cars look to be in great shape, Roy.

When are they planning on connecting up the track and overhead to the new tramshed?

The attached photo shows the hamsome F1 264 at the Beach terminus of the St Kilda tramway. I use the term 'beach' loosely here, but I suppose it would be the closest thing to Fiji Adelaidians have close to home...

This car was restored from a body only in the mid 1980's using Melbourne No.1 trucks ex-W2, K35JJ controllers (also ex W2) and other bits and pieces from W2's, including the saloon longitudinal seating (see the recent interior shot of the car by Herman). The funny thing is that this car has double helical gearing and their show W2 (294) has good old fashioned spur gears! The reason for this is the 294 was retired in 1977 having been spared the gear change. I believe 1977 was also the last year that spur geared W2 ran in service, although I may be wrong on this one.

Back to the F1, one of the AETM members told me a nice story about this one. Apparently, this car was chosen by the flegling museum as part of its wish list to the MTT in 1957. However, they changed their mind to 282 as they were advised by the workshops that 264 had been involved in an accident. 264 also had its electrical gear changes at some stage from the normal PC5 controllers to EE controllers, with the PC5's desitined for the aborted H1 project. So this car has now had three types of controller - PC5, EE and GE K35JJ.
