And likewise with Wellington's Fiducias, which dated from 1932 and had the
same front end shape. The #11 route via Cuba, Webb, Hankey and Wallace
Streets was only used by Fiducias in the last years and involved some
particularly tight curves. (The current #10 & 11 trolleybus routes also use
Wallace St but not the other streets, avoiding the tight corners). I believe
the Hankey St loop also had a 'no passing' rule for Fids, but I don't recall
any notice to that effect.

Well Bob, if you think the W2's looked narrow gutted,
what about Bisbane's 400's? (See pic of 554

Brisbanes distinctive front ends were a product of a
decision to NOT widen the track centres when they
converted from horses. Even with the pointy ends,
there were some curves where cars could not pass - see
the other pic.
