A while ago there was some discussion about whether
the physical connection between the St Kilda Brighton
Electric St Railway and the St Kilda railway was  ever
used.

I found the following in an article published in the
TMSV "Running Journal" of April 1970 and authored by
the late Rev Leon Marshall-Wood - the foremost
authority on the line and author of "The Brighton
Electric Line".  (That booklet was ambiguous about the
use of the connection.)

Referring to the introducton of the bogie cars ...
"The five cars concerned were numbered 28 to 32 and
were towed to St Kilda on the railway be a 'DDE' steam
locomotive and then they were pushed on to the tramway
via the physical connection, and later driven under
their own power to the depot.  The bad state of the
roadway and the proximity of some equipment to the
ground caused 'unfortunate' incidents which were
remedied by raising the bolsters. These first five
cars arrived on 6th Feb 1917, and another five ordered
from Newport arrived on 14th Dec 1918 and were
numbered 33 to 37 ..."

So now we know ...
