When you say "replacing the tram service at these times" could you give
some detail as how this was done? Was an extra overhead wire installed
for the return, or did the bus tow a shoe on one of the rails?

The attached subject is Australia's first trolleybus, converted in
1932 from a Garford Petrol double decker bus by removal of the top

motor. Known as the 'Green Goddess', she ran until about 1935 from
Payneham to Paradise during non-peak times, replacing the tram service
at these times. Although the first example of a trolleybus system, it

of a trolleybus with a radiator grill...
