Train Hobby books are picture books in A4 landscape
format, usually 48 pages + 4 more on the soft cover. They are full colour with
one quality photo to each page. The photographers were among the top echelon of
our railway photographers. Photos are computer enhanced where content may
require it but mostly not required. Photo captions are pretty basic, so
there is very little story in the book. Some photos are on fan trips others are
in normal service.
The tram books were made possible by the inclusion
of tramway photos in among railway photo collections.
The first book "Trams and Streetscapes Metropolitan
Melbourne 1950s-1960s" was published in Dec 2000 and ISBN
is 1 876249 40 4. This was a period when the MMTB
was divesting itself of a lot of non standard vehicles and routes. The Footscray
system and single truckers (Ts X1 & X2s) feature prominently in the above
work.(Also Ls Y &Y1s.)
Being a born and bred Melbourne resident, the
streetscapes are also significant to me and would be to most Australians.
Some enthusiasts may find it useful to have a Destination City close handy to
look up where the various classes fitted in
The above book is still available at AUD $32-95
RRP, which will also be the price of the new edition.(AUD1-00 curently $US
0-52)
If you are unable to get any of the above in your
locality, please contact me ex group and I can arrange purchase and postage. I
have no connection with Train Hobby Pubs other than being a part
time seller of their wares at a railway book shop.
Regards
Kevin
