I've got a really good AV program and I detected nothing. You can resend that
post addressed to [email protected] and I'll look at it myself.
The advice to get a mail client like Eudora (which I use) is excellent advice.
Almost all virus or worm programs rely on MS Outlook/Outlook Express to
propagate.

Hey, this is great - really brings the human side to life.

In this regard, I had the following exchange with Peter Cook. To my
embarassment, I thought it had gone from Peter to the whole group, not just
me. Did anyone else have trouble with an email originating from me? I have
quite a lot of interesting stuff re trolleybuses, Hong Kong etc, but I won't
send it if I am not 'clean'.

This is weird. I did not attach anything to that message. Every message I
send or receive is scanned by Norton Antivirus 2002, last updated 2 days
ago. I send about 10 emails a day and have received no other complaints -
not even from Bob Murphy, who responded to the same message (thanks, Bob.
Fascinating to get a glimpse of some of the political and human dimensions
which tramfans generally ignore.)

I would be interested to know if this message causes any problems (my ISP
has been having server faults, an unlikely explanation). It will probably be
my last, unless I am satisfied that the problem is fixed or never existed,
and I will downgrade from 'contributor' to 'lurker'.

I strongly suggest you run a virus scan on your PC, and switch to a
non-Microsoft E-mail client such as Eudora or possibly Mozilla.  It is
commonly known that Viruses, such as the one you posted to the list, spread
far quicker and easier over Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
