I recall being on that tour and the consernation caused by T 180
hitting the dirt at Princes Bridge - and the feared reaction of
the "men of the Tramways Board" the following morning.
Tram tours will be banned! Our museum will be threatened! People will
be hung and quarterd!
Etc Etc
Remember this was the "wowser" era (refer separate posting and also
the item on RC Drummond)!
I recall that the derailment (and the fact that the tour was allowed
to continue with passengers aboard) was never officially recorded so
the "men of the Tramways Board" were none the wiser. It was standard
practice for passengers to be removed from a derailed car and for it
to be "run in" SPECIAL after it was put back on the tracks.
Can anyone throw more light on the Princes Bridge incident?
