Footscray pix...and Tramway wowsers

Enjoyed looking at the Footscray pix; proves how
things have changed. It was so quiet on a Sunday
afternoon (?) at Footscray in the 1960s.
The photo of the buses at the Depot was interesting.
The vehicles were Leyland OPS1s not AECs as someone
has mentioned; probably already commented on.
The "shoulder" at the right of the photo looks mighty
like the late Bob Bishop (aka "The Shmoo") who was a
colourful tramway enthusiast "character" from the era.
And the person taking the photo(?)of 676 and 180 in
Leeds Street looks mightly like one of the Bounds
twins (Jeffrey and Lindsay) who used to wear navy blue
raincoats in the mid 1960s.
The TMSV tours in those days were fairly "exclusive"
with some people dressing in suits and everyone
expected to be on their "best" behaviour. The ARE
tours, by contrast, were more laid back and tended to
appeal to the younger (baby boomer) enthusiasts of the
era.
We could take up several postings about wowserism in
the Melbourne tramway enthusiast movement in the 1960s
Remember it was the time of the six o'clock swill and
the Chief Secretary of the time, Sir Arthur Rylah, who
was the moral guardian of the community would not
allow anything to "offend" his teenage daughter (now
BTW an active railway enthusiast!).
It seems such a long time...back to the present.
Hope these "memories" are of interest.
