Bugger!
You jokers are too far away.
I kept 3 AEC Mk IIIs on the road for years
including fixing body damage, getting rid of rust, re-painting etc etc.
If someone had trolley buses needing work around
here, all they would have to do is put on a BBQ and get the paint and ladders
out. I come with my own rivetters, grinders etc.

Just in response to Walters well founded remarks about not having a Farmers
Free Trolley Bus at the Wellington Festival the other year. Unfortunately
there is a much higher percentage of arm chair bus enthusiasts in New
Zealand, than active restorers. We can muster 75 Tramway Volunteers for
restoration and maintenance for WST at MOTAT, but there is no active bus
section. Consequently the Tramway Section is again (after a five year gap)
in charge of buses, but the Road Transport section is contracted to do the
work. What is it with armchair bus enthusiasts? They are very noisy in
presenting their view, but very light on doing anything about it.
Consequently we have an unwritten instant retort at WST these days - If
people complain that this and that should be done by the mysterious "They"
or the as mysterious "Them" - we turn around and say "When are YOU coming in
to do it"!
Like everyone else we would just love to have a Trolley Bus network at MOTAT
and the Farmers Buses running. The money is there - the buses have been
saved, but we need motivated and skilled people to front up and do more than
talk about it.
I'm sure all of your groups around other parts of NZ and Australia have
similar tales of the shadows that lurk around and are critical about what
the active restorers should be doing, but disappear into the shadows when
it's time to get A into G and make a difference.
If anybody has got the formula to turn arm chair enthusiasts into workers -
please let me know! I'll put in a bulk order!
Cheers
