Would be good to get further info on these cars and their equipment.
We (at WST Auckland)are well advanced with patterns (as distinct from
drawings - we had the unforunate experience at the last COTMA
conference of running into trouble with enthusiasts who didn't know
the difference between a pattern and a drawing! - a pattern is a
replica of the part made by a pattern-maker and used to make the
mould from which the part is then cast)for Brush type D and Brush
Improved trucks. These are likely very similar to the WA cars - but
further details and commisioning dates would be helpful at this
initial stage. Are PETS interested?

I will need to check the aforementioned Dest Subi.

I can tell you that we have two bodies, Kal 25 and Perth G 35
(originally a Kal car) that were built by Brush in Loughborough, UK-
If I'm mistaken- Greg probably has his copy of DS next to him!!!

Greg, I'd be most interested if you have any good pics of the Brush
trucks you mention. At what date were these purchased?

And Roy, does PETS have any car bodies that should be fitted with
the
Brush trucks?

Sorry to pull you up again,

The K's were 4-motor trucks but whilst "officially 77E's" they
were
in fact
built up by patterns that were converted from 62E's but new
castings, using
wheels (33") and motors from scrapped single truck cars.

Freo car 36 had trucks that were based on the MMTB #9 but with
smaller (28")
wheels and were thus more like Sydney #13's 35 used Brush trucks
with short
axle centres.

Kalgoorlie used two motor Brill 27 equal wheel trucks and were
therefore,
not Max traction trucks.

The Perth K Class Trams 126-130 ran on 2 motor Brill 77-E's I
believe. I
will have to have a good look at my Destination Subiaco to
confirm
this and
to look at other tram classes in Perth and Freo.

Kalgoorlie used max trax for all its bogie cars.

Freo 36 and I think 35 used a modified Melborne No.13 or 15
from
the top
of my head. I assume these were four motors- but will check
tonight.

PETS has Freo 36, Perth 130 and Kalgoorlie 25- all of these
were
the last
cars built for their respective systems.

Just out of interest, a plan for Perth 131 is held by PETS-
this
would
have been a drop centre design based on the W2's if it had ever
been built.
The only DC cars used in West Oz were H 62 and I63- the latter
being the
'stepless' car- the other of this type imported went to Briz and
was
scrapped in the '30's. 63 lasted till the early 50's and the body
is
preserved by PETS- believed to be the only full body still in
existence
anywhere in the world.
