Believe it or not, the company that built the Twin
Coach was Fageol. They came with leather seats and were lovely buses in a lot of
ways. Beautifully turned out, quiet, road well and, as I remember it, very wide.
They may well have been 106" wide. Does anyone know? Because they were short it
didn't make much difference leaving bus stops. You still didn't have to swing
out as wide as a 40' long, 102" wide GMC.
If those Twin Coaches hadn't been cursed with
Westinghouse electrics, I would have spent a sign-up or two at Presidio to drive
them.

After WW II Twin Coach exported a small order of the Twin Coaches to The
Netherlands. The design of the Twin Coach bus inspired a number of
Dutch bus manufacturers such as Verheul to have a similar windshield
(KromhoutVerheul.jpg). Later several UK buses used the same windshield
design. I suppose they actually used a windscreen design in the UK :-)
Twin Coach company merged with Flxible. To compete with GMs fishbowl
they brought ot a similar design. They did not spend the money on a
compound curved windshield like the Flxible but again used a design
derived from the original Twin Coach (Flxible.jpg). Finally, because we
were talking about trolleybuses, here is an image of the St. Petersburg
model of the SF Muni trolleybus.
