Did they use left pedal power, right pedal brakes,
Graeme?
What was the advantage of changing over from
Crossley front wheels to BUT ones? And why didn't they just use Leyland bits
from the beginning?
I noticed those lantern front ends. The Flxibles
had them and many others. It was a heroic attempt to retain flat glass
everywhere for replacement purposes. I did not like the fact it meant the front
pillars were at critical places in the drivers' field of vision.
With curves a la M&MTB Mk VI the pillars were
farther back giving a broader, unobstructed sweep.b

Road wheels refers to the replacement of the original Crossley front
wheels with "BUT" ones...
Stands for British United Traction...
It was an english company who built trolley buses using mainly
Leyland Chassis parts.
You would be very surprised to learn that the frontal design was
derived from America ( as in twin Coach etc )
many buses were to feature the "Lantern" windscreens.
and if I can be so bold Bob.........The worlds ugliest bus, MMTB MAN
mk 1 as quote by yourself at the time, and the dreaded Volvo B59s of
the MMTB, but they got it wrong and the slope was all wrong here.
