Thanks for the photo Greg,
Just a question though- she looks well covered in dark blue paint.
Was she subsequently repainted in phoenix colours once at Maitland?
The maintenance of the grog ads in a school is a nice touch!
Thanks for the tips on trucks- back to BTMS and SPER members on that
one! Having been a member of Ferny Grove when a teenager-
incedentally, I must chase up John Lambert about that application
form he promised me about a year ago...- I know of the famous bogie
farm. Last time I asked about it, Briztram was still a goer and BTMS
were keen to make sure they had plenty of spares for any future on-
street undertaking.
Regarding the SPER truck, this would be the spare that came down with
548 in 1969 I presume? I also remember reading in a Trolley Wire from
1970-2, that they had retrieved the bogies from 550- anyone know if
this was true and what they are now under?
Hopefully once the embargo in Melbourne is lifted for bona fide
museum undertakings, there will be plenty of spares for everyone. Our
W5 766 has not turned a wheel since we got her in 1989- anyone know
the whereabouts of 4 good armatures????????

Hi Roy,shot of
It seems 550 was indeed camera shy, even from me, I have attached a
her not long after arriving at Yallambie Hts Special school and Ihave a
friend who is checking his collection for me too.could
As for genuine Brisbane trucks, there is a couple of things you
consider, Brisbane has several (unknown how many) sets of Phoenixtrucks
that they saved and are in their "bogie farm". I have attached ashot of one
of them. Sper has one spare that they will never use though it hasno motors
(simple, use Melbourne motors, exactly the same, GE 247 with doublehelical
gears), perhaps you could persuade Brisbane to part with one andSper the
other to make a pair, evan if the one from Brisbane comes withoutmotors
too. Food for thought!#15's are

We hope to get trucks and electricals from Melbourne, as you say
almost identical to her original trucks. Unfortunately, we will notbe able
to run her with totally authentic equipment, as it is unlikely thattwo sets
of resilient wheels will ever show up!
