If Hastings 45 is operable, that would be the oldest, of course. During the
1999 Festival we had visitors from the Illinois Railway Museum, and they
have a working trolleybus line, like Ferrymead. They have a 1930 Chicago
trolleybus (trolley coach!) awaiting restoration, but it is far from
operable.

If members of this group would like particular shots of Wellington
trolleybuses - current, or the 1999 Festival - just let me know. In return,
continued postings of photos of Melbourne tram developments are welcome.

Cheers,

I thought Hastings (UK) #45, a circa 1929 Guy BTX chassis with single
deck Ransomes body, was the oldest operable trolley bus?!? Of course
there's no trolleybus system in Hastings to operate it on, but I
believe it been to Sandtoft and operated there.

Hastings also has a 1928 Guy BTX chassis with a open top double deck
body that has Commer diesel engine installed in place of the electric
motor.
