Looking East from Elgar Road.
There is certainly not enough room for a tram the
way it is now. Thought the extended Eastern Freeway has reduced the traffic
count.
I assume the tramway extension is going to be
another concrete desert a la East Burwood extension.
Jeez, considering public transport is supposed to
be a plus for the urban environment, they make it ugly in the new extensions and
way too noisy in the city with that damn concrete, don't they!
Hardly a good advertisement for public
transport.
But it's great to see the extension finally going
ahead. They were talking about it 27 years ago when I first got to Oz. They
should have done it when they opened Box Hill Central.
Is there any move to extend the East Burwood tram
to Knox City? I think that would be wonderfully viable as Knox City is a huge
passenger generator.
