Apologies to all this was not what I wanted my first
posting to TDU to be however I enjoyed the comments and shows what can happen
with the electric telegraph early am and a fine whiskey or two on board .
By the way I would suggest Maroona instead of Great Western on FridayNites
altnertatively tues nite from a good venue, if you dont want to go to bed,
to early they dont have guinness on tap at the local hostelry, you are removed
from airport west and the 600 volt system but only 65 or so miles from the sites
of the former Horsham City council tramway (no urban service only horse drawn
picnic ) trams closed at the end of the depression ) and tne municipal tramway
at Warrnambool 1859 t0 1890. horse drawn from the current rly station to the old
tramway pier demoliched at the turn of the century only 90 miles from
maroona, and of course the New Portland cable tram service which is about to
commence running. and lets not leave out Ballarraat of course.
I really do enjoy this
page and my first recallable tramway experience was at the corner of Elfig
st and Lygon st with a W2 rounding the corner inbound and the canle car
tracks were still in situ circa 1940 when I was 2 years old a never to be
forgotten expierence. and to Wgb thanks for the tip off to the site .
From down in no tram
land, cheers Greg O' Flynn.
