-Peter,Z1s and Z2s seem to be the backbone of MTrams Southside
service, they are a bit crude and rough edged like W2s once were but
do the job,Z3s are a much smoother riding car,Yarra seems to have
scored most of them, not to mention the A class cars.I've never driven
any of the Z and later cars so I don't know if it is possible to get
a good smooth ride out of a Z1 or 2,certainly as a passenger I've
never had one,The later cars are fine given a competent motorman,as
were Ws.I must say I like the look of the Z2s especially, they have a
wider bumper and anti-climber.Regards,Peter Bruce.-- In

How many of the Z class cars--in their various subclasses--are

I don't know what the exact numbers are, but there are still plenty
of
the later Z sub-classes to be seen running in Melbourne for M-Tram.

Despite the sour grapes poured on the Z classes by some here, they
have are generally well accepted by the Melbourne travelling public,
and comparison at any level with MUNI's Boeing Vertol cars is, IMO,
quite inappropriate.
