2002 - 100 years of Electric Trams in Auckland

Good morning Good Tram Enthusiast's

Note November 2002 in your diaries.

November 17 2002 is a special day for Auckland Tram Enthusiasts. The 100th
Anniversary of the opening ceremony for the Auckland Electric Tramway
Company Limited's Tramway system from the foot of Queen Street in what is
now QE2 Square. With the Father of Auckland, Sir John Campbell making a
rousing speech to a receptive crowd and cutting the first notch.

The Western Springs Tramway, at MOTAT is planning a series of events during
November to celebrate this occasion. I will endeavour to request the
organiser/s to keep these forums informed of the programme of events as the
details are finalised.
