A lot of the guys badmouth those things but I found them to be good cars when I drove them in Bendigo.

Their lateral oscillation was not as bad as tram 19 and they had very little body movement.

The thing that bugged me most about them was that damn dead man on the controller handle. Holding that thing down all the time is a bitch. Hate it.

They were a good PAYE car. I'd reckon they helped a lot of small tramways limp along for years who otherwise would have gone bust.

The Cotma conference at Bendigo bought all but two of the Australian Birneys together.

The missing links were MMTB 218 scrapped ...and the Bendigo car which was sold years ago , but retrieved, rebuilt, and sent off to Adelaide to St Kilda museum.

8 cars in Australia...... ( 9 in NZ , sorry about that !!! :-)))
