Re: Citadis - C Class

I haven't kept up with the testing schedule over the last two weeks as I've
been interstate (also getting a few chances to ride the far superior
Variotram in Sydney). I believe the Citadis trams need to do 14 days in
passenger service before they are accepted by Yarra. During this 14 day
trial period they are still under the ownership of Alstom, and only operate
extra services - i.e. not to the timetable. During this period, the trams
are to have no major defects.
Assuming that they may have already completed trials and Yarra have
accepted them, it is probably because under privatisation Contract, Yarra
were to have either the first 12 or first 16 in service by December 31.
On that note, it shouldn't be too long before the next batch to arrive. I'm
informed the next batch will be 8 trams. The trend for the past shipments
is that the trams come in at Webb Dock, on the "GRACHT" named ships. The
website at www.patrick.com.au has relatively up to date shipping arrivals
and departures information.

I must say that I have found it quite strange to see 3015 & 3016 in
service the last week or so, in plain paint with no markings at all
and the class number written in texta on cardboard/paper taped to the
inside of the front window. Looks VERY professional!
After testing the first few without markings - but with numbers - why
are Yarra rushing the C class into service looking like they just
arrived from the docks? Is there a delay in finishing the exteriors?
And is there a legal requirement to have the class number on the tram
- incase of accident etc ?
