Those are really nice shots, John.
Tell me why an Irish club would change the tram colours from green to maroon
(and then put new M&MTB logos on the side)?
The tram looks great.
Not one of those poofy sliding door models either. It even still has the
centre opening.
Isn't it a bit hot up there to use something like that without air
conditioning?
Thanks for the pics.
Here's a shot I took of a similar car in Bendigo, still on the rails.

I had known for a while that there was an ex-Melbourne tram in Mt Isa
(at the Mt Isa Irish Association - The Irish Club - premises), but I had
never remembered to check it out whenever I went up for shopping.
I finally checked it out last week, on Wed 9th.
It's set up as the centrepiece of the Tramway (naturally) Café, with
seating and tables inside. Quite nice, and also the first time I have
ever been in a Melbourne tram! (Memo to self: visit Victoria).
It's sitting on bogies (presumably it's originals), but I noticed it
seemed to be a bit high off the ground. My guess is that they've got
some rail of QR and just sat it on that. They have covered over the
windows to the drivers cabins, but I did get a glimpse in. Not
surprisingly, it seems that all the operating equipment has been
stripped, leaving only the brake wheel.
The photos were taken with a DC215, set at 1152x864, in natural light (I
wanted to avoid using the flash) with overexposure set to 0.5+. They
still came out a bit dark, so I bumped the gamma correction up to 1.2.
I'll also put a copy of these pics in the 'photos' section on the TDU
Yahoogroups page.
