The only time I have met the big orange beasty was in early 1992,
when I was able to get a good look at her inside the pigeon-infested
confines of Hawthorn Depot. By this time, she was in a pretty bad
way, most glass had been smashed by some neaderthal and the control
consols had been ripped out. I believe this was due to an incomplete
alteration to bring her into line with other Z's.
Has anyone recollections of the riding quality of 980?

1041 was a superbly riding car and very quiet.
Far superior to a Z.
Almost like an air bag !!!
I always tried to swap for that table but usually when I got it the
car would be stopped by Lou for something or other, and I would
to use a normal Z.I
When at SPER couple of years ago I was able to have a drive of 1014
found the two cars were very comparable (and so they should havepain
been )
The ex VR cars 52 and 53 had K35 contollers and were for sure a
in the neck !!!cars
But here again, I used to try to swap shifts to get one of these
when they went to Brunswick or South Melbourne for wheel grinding.
Don't forget the other wierd cars 750 and 751 with the PC5
controllers.

from Essendon Depot on the Footscray 82 route.
Seen here leaving the top gate to start the afternoon run.
