That's a good looking car, Graeme. Must have rode well with those trucks.

Sure was funny about how the Tramways Union under the Cain Government finally sowed the seeds of its own demise and how they went down under Kennett like little pussycats.

The epitome of trams in Melbourne up to the early 70's.

A thoroughly usefull and good looking tram ready to leave Wattle park for the City.

Note the No 15 trucks fitted .

Any tramway employee on the job at this time would have had NO illusions whatsover about the power of the Tramways Union.

Almost daily some incident would occur where their influence would be felt.

My opinions as a "Gunzel" before there ever was a thing by that name, would undoubtably earn me a pair of concrete shoes and permanent residence somewhere under the Docklands development.

Melbourne missed so many opportunities years back, but strangelly enough, by not doing anything then, in a way....... preserved the system so it can be modernised now.
