Tram stop

Thats another thing about the average W2, sure they stopped Ok.
They only had to see a curved piece of track and they stopped.
I often deliberately used this feature myself in service.
Trouble was getting them moving again !!!! Needed full parallel, mind
the line breaker......
Was it true they were designed from two Stephenson horse cars with a
verandah between them ?
You comment that the L's were slow , it was that they only seemed to
be slow due to their quiet superb riding quality and performance.
Ask John Gilmour about the SLOW L passing Glenhuntly Depot on a
charter one day.
I recall on a charter on West Coburg my life flashing before my eyes
as we sped down the dip between Moreland road and Albion Street and
having to brake big time for the lights. One of the passengers who
had just eaten part of his moustache commented he had never been so
fast on a tram in his life.
I have been researching and I think I have found the ideal bogie car
which would suited Melbourne admirably in that time period. I hope to
have a shot to scan tomorrow night.
