Whoever thought of converting a W4 to a houseboat must have either been a
driver at South Melbourne or a person of extaordinary genius,W4s wallowed
like a particularly unseaworthy houseboat, they were about as fast as a
houseboat and they didn't stop at all,in short they were a total waste of
space as trams, they should have been houseboats to start off with.PBruce.---

The tram was purchased with the intention of making a house boat out
of it for use on Eildon weir. I don't know if this ever happened or
the tram was scrapped on site in the yard on Rooks rd.where it sat
for a number of years. I can not remember whether there was a W3 there
as well.
