Herman

Your recent picture of the Glenelg cars was magnificent,

The cars look better now than when new.

How could anyone possibly compare them with an MMTB W2 ??

The expression "Only a mother could love them" was surely written for
W2's.

I drove many miles in traffic from Essendon and Brunswick depots in
these vehicles, which were a cross between a wooden garden shed and a
Sherman tank.

Their one redeeming feature was the noise those spur gears made as
they hurtled down Lygon Street past the cemetery.

When they received helical gears, there was not too much to remember
them by .....except perhaps for the lasting backaches.

It was a real shame they were not fitted with 77E trucks , a bigger
cab, and perhaps curved sides .

Forever upwards
