Not one or all of those "attractions" is/are enough to make Melbourne worth

I'm just telling you what I am *actually seeing* in Melbourne
promotional material.... I'm not making this up! For just one instant
example, go to the Tourism Victoria web site (very widely linked by
travel agents, hotels etc etc) and select "Melbourne" ...

http://www.visitvictoria.com/index.cfm

and follow the "more info" links and see how long it takes you to find
a tram of any sort!

For some more try the Tourism section of the Victorian Government web
site

You'll find a link to the Vic Trip web site (Public Transport in
Victoria) but there aren't any heads up pictures of trams until you
get down a level or two.

This one is pretty typical of a lot of hotel "tourism" pages....

For a few more try....

http://www.melbourne.visitorsbureau.com.au/

(lovely picture of a B class up front)

I just don't think you get it about this place, or about its people, or the
people of San Francisco, for that matter.

Its not matter of what I "get"!

Its a matter of what message the government and the travel industry
*is actually delivering* to elsewhere about Melbourne, its just not
the one many people here seem to think it is!

Cheers,

Bill
