Ask any NZ TV watcher what they remember about Victoria tourism
ads... and guess what they will say! Perhaps that just goes to show
that, like Tasmania, we are 20 yrs behind? A nice place to be
actually.
Frankly, despite several recent visits to Melbourne, I can't think of
anything there that is uniquely different to any other "McDonaldised"
city in the world - except the trams.

I don't think Melbourne has any unique icon of international or even
national merit.
The only one about is the W class trams.
Marketing is what my business is about and there is no other world
icon here.any city

Apart from the restaurant cars, W trams have not featured in major
point of sale, TV or cinema advertising for Victorian tourism in
Australia for quite a while. Melbourne has been assiduously
aits base of tourist "icons" over the past few decades and now has
nowwide range that are used in advertising the city, with the trams

Is that "from your perspective" there in New Zealand?
Being nostalgic about them and having any desire to ride on them
everyday are not necessarily related in any way.
