Hi, gang!
I've just set up another regional traction/transit discussion group. This
one covers the Gulf states of Texas and Louisiana, and is called
[email protected]. Subjects discussed include present
and past traction and interurban lines throughout the Lone Star State and in
New Orleans and other Pelican State cities.
Texas had--and still has--a lot of very interesting traction history.
Interurbans connecting throughout the Dallas Metroplex region and in
Houston. Dallas's growing and wildly successful DART LRT, and its McKinney
Avenue heritage line. The Fort Worth Tandy Subway. Pearl Brewing Company.
El Paso's PCCs. Across the state line, we have the oldest
continually-operating street railway in the U.S., namely New Orleans's St.
Charles Streetcar line. Plus New Orleans is fixing to return trolleys to
Canal Street, its main drag, and its Riverfront line is wildly successful.
And then there are all those other Texas and Louisiana cities that had
streetcars, with plenty of history attached...
To subscribe to this new group, send an e-mail to:

Or go to the web site at:

As on all of my other groups, pictures are welcome, as long as they are in
JPEG (.jpg) format. Text file attachments are not allowed at any time but
you can copy a text file and upload it by clicking on "Create text file".
I hope to see you on board soon!
Sincerely,
Milantram (Peter Ehrlich)
