Norm was the former Tramways Union delegate for the M&MTB "Civil Branch"
based in the yard behind the old South Melbourne Depot.
He was also a Vice-President of the Union and very active in union affairs.
Norm's manner of using English is unique.
His way of thinking is unique.
He could only have existed with the Tramways or perhaps the Railways.
It's good to hear he is still alive and doing things.
I've been meaning to go over and see him there for years.
He's no spring chicken.
When he goes he will take a lot of very interesting history with him.
Cheers,
Bob Murphy

This may not be new news, but..
A wonderful and quite extensive museum of Melbourne
tram memorablia exists at Malvern Depot. It seems that
every attic in Melbourne was cleaned out of tram
memorablia and all of it was collected in one place,
sorted and neatly put on display. The museum is not
'open' as there is no funding. However, it is
relatively easy to arrange a private tour, when in
Melbourne, by telephoning the Malvern Depot and asking
for Norm Maddox, the 'curator' of the museum. Mr.
Maddox is also a respository of a vast body of
information and trivia about Melbourne tram history;
just get him talking and listen. :-)
