Functionally that sounds good, Greg.
I don't know whether they were serious about Hawthorn Depot being used for
historic trams or not. I think the location is great from the point of view
of accessibility but the track connection is gone, and the yuppies will be
moving in, soon. So no one would be able to see the old depot facilities.
They no longer exist.
I reckon your idea is a good one.

Okay guys,see
Have heard from a very reliable source (not the usual suspects) that the
current plans are thus, W/shops out, now they are to stay as an operating
entity, they are to go to private operation and possibly even expanded
within their own grounds.
Hawthorn to be the "running shed" for the historic fleet with excess cars
stored at Newport to be rotated through the fleet.
My own view (for what it's worth) is, The former Preston (aka Thornbury)
depot, be refurbished and have all functioned restored so visitors could
how a depot worked as well as the trams, ie dummy conductors paying in, inleft
revenue room etc. Historic cars could operate between service cars between
there and Merry Creek where the Fergie street X-over is to be relocated in
reserve. This would have the cars relatively protected (apart from cross
streets) in reserve. The proximity of the W/Ss would allow easy repair or
restoration to be carried out. What you guys think about that.

standing,is this significant?PBruce.--- In TramsDownUnder@y..., "JohannFan"
