It could be disasterous should someone rewire the wrong pole first! It seems to me it would be essential for operators to know full well which wire is earth (to be rewired first) and which the hot line (to be rewired only after the trolley is firmly earthed).

The same precautions would be necessary, as well, when working with wandering leads, I should think.
