Subject: Re: [TramsDownUnder] Routes names and Numbers
Hi Bob
Good point.
I'd be interested to know if any other system had a Alphabet character
as its destination, like Fremantle?
Although some trams earlier on had a destination (BEACONSFIELD, EAST
FREMANTLE, etc) they generally just had E (East -- Allen St via Adelaide
St and Canning Road), M ( Marmion -- Duke Street via High St and Marmion
St), B (Beaconsfield public school), S (South -- Douro Rd via South
Terrace and Mandurah Rd plus the city loop via Phillimore St. Later N
(North to Leighton Road) was added, but as extensions were made to Petra
Street, Point Walter, Leslie Street, etc, they retained the original
letters. Thus the big "E" on Fremantle 29.
Cheers
Graham
