Good point.

I'd be interested to know if any other system had a Alphabet character

as its destination, like Fremantle?

Although some trams earlier on had a destination (BEACONSFIELD, EAST

FREMANTLE, etc) they generally just had E (East -- Allen St via Adelaide

St and Canning Road), M ( Marmion -- Duke Street via High St and Marmion

St), B (Beaconsfield public school), S (South -- Douro Rd via South

Terrace and Mandurah Rd plus the city loop via Phillimore St. Later N

(North to Leighton Road) was added, but as extensions were made to Petra

Street, Point Walter, Leslie Street, etc, they retained the original

letters. Thus the big "E" on Fremantle 29.
