The M&MTB introduced one-man operation to Footscray with the X1s, built
locally to similar "Safety Car" standards as the two Birney cars
imported from the US.

Like most operators of the era, they needed to impress upon the
passengers that their safety was not compromised without a conductor.

Thanks to Ron Scholten, listmembers can now see the leaflet which
announced the X1s to Footscray.
