MMTB map from 1934-35
  Mal Rowe

Ron Scholten has kindly shared with me a marvellous map from his
collection ... and I'm sharing it with you.
http://tdu.to/MMTB_1934-35_map.jpg

It's from a free booklet offered to passengers in 1934-35 and has
information on routes, city attractions and first and last tram times.

The map captures the time when there was still a significant amount of
the system run by cable trams, but the system was unified.

Some things I note:

* The connection down the Northern part of Elizabeth St parallel to the
Brunswick cable tram connecting the Essendon trams (that ran down
William St) with Victoria St and the "Southern System".

* Route numbers including 57, 59 and 60 allocated to the Footscray
routes that would later be used for Essendon routes. (Footscray trams
never had route number boxes in the days of the isolated system)

I'm sure others will have their comments.

I'll post the rest of the booklet soon.

Mal Rowe - grateful to Ron S for sharing this gem
