Chatswood Platform 1 cutover this weekend
  Bill Bolton

CityRail will opening Platform 1 at Chatswood during a track
possession over the coming weekend. This will be start of the
operational commissioning of the junction between the new
Epping-Chatswood Rail Link and the existing North Shore line over the
next several weeks.

From Monday City-bound North Shore line trains will use Platform 1
while Hornsby-bound North Shore Line trains will use Platform 4, which
will be the normal ongoing operational configuration. For the past
several months City-bound North Shore line trains have been threading
through the crossovers on both ends of Chatswood station to use
Platform 3.

Initial operation of the Epping-Chatswood Rail Link will involve a
shuttle service between Epping and Chatswood, using platforms 2 and 3
at Chatswood, with a reversing road on the south end between the North
Shore line tracks.

The track layout at Chatswood is quite flexible and will allow
short-working of trains from the North Shore line in both directions,
and passing of trains for both NS and EC lines.

A Speno Rail Grinding train was idling on the City-bound tunnel ramp
track north of Chatswood this afternoon.

Meanwhile the addition of extra signals along the North Shore line
continues, with two new signals sitting in plastic wrap on the ground
near Wollstonecraft station this morning and another new signal
inserted (mounted but not commissioned) between Killara and Gordon
this afternoon.

Cheers,

Bill
