To me (at that time) Brisbane was just delightful.

I could not believe that they were closing a system which was in many
ways (but not all) in better condition than Melbourne. Bob Risson had
done a good job on track improvement there before coming to Melbourne to
do the same thing.

Here's a pic looking down Brunswick St taken during my only visit to the
operating system. It captures something of the 'country town' feel that
Paul refers to ... but so would many streets in Melbourne in those days!
