I stood at that corner for some time in light rain hoping to get a tram replacement (bus) into the picture.

I finally posted the "no traffic" picture but here are two others taken around the same time.

Traffic signals at Parramatta Rd and Crystal St (two blocks away) are phased very much in the favour of Parramatta Rd. These pictures show the result in Crystal St. Maybe Ted Gay's mention of Canterbury bound trams stopping across three Parramatta Rd traffic lanes while turning into Crystal St (TDU 30 April 2008) was not such a bad idea in days before traffic signals.
