Still begs the question as to why the steam tram service was closed
in 1931/32. Why not maintain operation till the rail line opened.
Steam trams were still being operated at Kogarah till 1937, so its
not as if the line would have been a technology orphan.

Was it inadequate? Did a Govt mate own a local bus line? (This would
have applied possibly, after 1932, when Labor's Lang was turfed out -
but the decision was made when he was in power and I think, all
trams were still administered by the NSWGR). Was the tramway in need
of rebuilding?

I'm sure the answers are in a book "somewhere", but unfortunately I
don't own it.

I would love to find out.
