If the vehicle anything like a Combino it has what looks like a thick floppy disc in a carrier down in the computor box, this disc works two way it instructs the tram to do certain things in certain order ie Passenger presses next stop button , activate this item that circuit till it gets to the drivers cabin light this bulb etc.
It also records information as to how fast driver going when he activated various items etc.
And on our trams tapes activitys of passenger movements.

All recorded for the company.

Sorry David, my knowledge of modern tram equipment does not extend that far! I presume it is some sort of electronic plug-in device. Can anyone enlighten us?

Thanks for the update. Now this is where I reveal to all how technologically challenged I am, what in this context do you mean by "card"?

Best wishes

David,

Car 104 arrived Outer harbour on 6 January and was unloaded at Victoria Square on 9 January.
My understanding is there was a problem with a "card" and the one from 103 was sent over from Melbourne. Perhaps the problem has proved to be a bit more complicated than that.

Cheers,
Bob in Sydney (cool this morning)

Thanks for the update. This probably means that "new" 103 will be the last to enter service unless somebody does a quick re-numbering of the cars currently on the production line.

Andrew, 104 has only been used as a training tram to this point. For a
few weeks it was out regularly during the day but for the last couple
of weeks it jsut sits in the depot. I was speaking to another
enthusiast at 105's arrival and he'd heard a rumour that something had
happened to 104 during the delivery process and this was keeping it
out of service. Others have wondered whether it was awaiting an
airconditioner upgrade but we have no facts.

David in Brisbane, 104 has been here for many weeks. According to our
information 103 has been written-off with all salvagable parts to be
recovered by Bombardier. If you search the archive you should find
some posts about 104's arrival.
